Why 'Square' 64?
The firm's name comes from the famous Indian folktale of 'The King and the Rice'. You may well be aware of this story, wherein a farmer beats a King at a game of chess. As a reward, he asks for one grain of rice on the first square of the chessboard, two grains on the second, four grains on the third, and so on, doubling the number of grains for each square. While this seems like a small ask, by the 64th square, the King would owe him 18 quintillion grains of rice - that is more rice than has ever been cultivated on earth. That is the power of compounding!
Square 64 endeavours to achieve returns on the 64th square. With this clear objective of gaining non-linear returns, there are certain investment principles that form the foundation of Square 64's investment philosophy.
